Tracking a sunny and seasonable Thursday

Despite a bit of sunshine returning to Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday afternoon, below average temperatures have lingered across the region with highs near 60 degrees. A cool and dry night is ahead with passing clouds and lows near 40 degrees after midnight. Abundant sunshine and southwest breezes will promote a warm-up Thursday afternoon as highs return closer to average, reaching the low to mid 70s. Conditions will remain warm Friday, although a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms returns to the forecast as a developing low pressure system tracks across the area. Aside from another chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday night, dry and mild conditions will persist through much of the upcoming weekend.
