Kansas City Chiefs to play Broncos in Week 1 Monday Night Football showdown

NEW YORK (KQTV) -- The Kansas City Chiefs will play an AFC West rival to open the 2026 NFL season.

On Tuesday morning, Monday Night Football play-by-play broadcaster Joe Buck that the first Monday night game will feature the Chiefs and the Denver Broncos in Week 1.

Both teams have quarterbacks coming off injuries with Patrick Mahomes recovering from ACL surgery and Bo Nix rehabbing an ankle injury.

Neither team has said what the timelines look like for their quarterbacks, but both could be on the field for Week 1.

The Chiefs and Broncos will face each other at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14. The NFL has not announced location for the Monday Night Football game. The game will be broadcasted on ABC and ESPN.

The full schedule release takes place on Thursday, May 14.
