Benton High School holds send-off for state golfers Kamden Morlock and Ben McCoy

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - Benton High School did a send-off for senior Kamden Morlock and sophomore Ben McCoy as they prepare to head off to the Class 3 State Golf Tournament in Sedalia next week.

Morlock heads to state for the second straight season and the third time in the last four years. He finished with a fourth place finish in districts. McCoy finished tied for ninth in districts and he heads to state for the first time.

Both appreciated the sendoff their school had for them, and now its time to lock-in and focus on business.

"Sedalia is a course that I'm pretty fond of, sets up pretty well for me. So I'm hoping I can go down there, play to my strengths and shoot a good number," said Morlock. "Sophomore year was the only year I didn't go and it kind of put a chip on my shoulder that I didn't make it and I played so bad. So I think these last couple of years have been a grind to make sure I get back there and hopefully can go down there and actually do something."

"I'm just like really happy. I just want to go out there and have fun. I'm really glad I made it," said McCoy. "I was kind of disappointed about last year, I didn't play too well. But I came out this year, shot a good number and made it."

Both golfers will tee off at the Class 3 State Golf Tournament on Monday, May 18th and Tuesday, May 19th at the Sedalia Country Club.
