Chillicothe High School baseball rolls to victory over Savannah in District Semifinals

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The defending Class 4 State Champion Chillicothe High School baseball team defeated Savannah 7-2 in the Class 4 District 16 Semifinals on Tuesday night.

Both teams were tied 2-2 after the first inning, the Hornets then scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th and 2 more in the bottom of the 6th to seal the victory.

Freshman Cooper Helton led Chillicothe at the plate, 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, senior Noah Rinehart was 1-for-2 with 1 RBI. Junior Howie Donoho pitched 5 innings for Chillicothe, finishing with 8 strikeouts and gave up 5 hits and 2 runs.

Junior Mason Waitkoss finished 1-for-2 at the plate with 2 RBI for Savannah.

Chillicothe improves to 20-9 on the season and will face 1 seed Benton for the District Championship on Thursday, May 21st at 5:30 pm on MoWest's field.
