Lafayette junior wins state shot put championship

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Lafayette Fighting Irish junior stood on top of the podium Friday afternoon at the Missouri State High School Activities Association's State Track and Field Championships.

Lafayette thrower Emery Omon won the Class 3 Girls Shot Put with a throw of 12.17 meters (39' 11 1/4).

Omon's second throw was her best of the day. Two of her four record throws were the best throws of the day.

Omon's second throw and best throw was 39' 11 1/4 and her third throw was 39' 5 1/4.

Herculaneum's Macy Pope finished second with a throw of 39' 4 1/2.
