Local athletes win state titles on Day 1 of MSHSAA Track & Field championships
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- At the end of Day 1, northwest Missouri schools had six different athletes win state championships down in Jefferson City.
Lafayette junior Emery Omon won the Class 3 shot put state championship with a throw of 39' 11 1/4".
The East Buchanan Bulldogs had a thrower win her second consecutive state title on Friday. Brooklynn Johnson won the Class 2 shot put state title with a throw of 43' 8 3/4". The senior won the state title in shot put last season, too.
Hamilton's Emma Kanoy won the Class 2 high jump state championship with a leap of 5' 4 1/2".
A North Platte sophomore won the Class 2 girls 800-meter run state title. Farrah Williams ran the 800-meter run in 2:16.35.
Mound City senior Ernest Peters took home the state title in the Class 1 pole vault on Friday with a vault of 13' 11 1/4".
Gilman City junior Khloey Sperry won the Class 1 high jump state championship with a jump of 5' 3 3/4".
