Rock Port baseball advances to the Class 1 State Quarterfinals with win over Albany

ROCK PORT, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Rock Port Blue Jays win their first Class 1 State Sectional game ever after defeating the Albany Warriors, 3-2.

Rock Port Rylan Hunter got the start on the mound. He allowed only three hits and had five strikeouts in his five innings pitched. The Blue Jays three points all came in the fifth inning, but they did end the game with nine hits in their six innings at the plate.

"These boys have done this all year," said Rock Port Head Coach Chris Millsap. "They never give up no matter the score. It doesn't seem to affect their mindset and they were able to pull it off."

Rock Port now improves to 23-4 on the season, while Albany ends their year at 14-9.

The Blue Jays will now face the Northland Christian Trailblazers on Wednesday, May 27 with time and place to be determined.
