Pony Express 5K race rides again

ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- A local museum hosted an event to benefit a children's hospital.

The Measly Mile Mafia chose to reinstate the Pony Express 5K on Saturday morning to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The race began at 8 a.m. and started and finished at the museum.

"We have to raise $37,000 for St. Jude's," Race Director Terra James said. "It's a great way to raise some money for St. Jude's, and it's a great cause, so we wanted to bring this back in order to meet that fundraising goal."

Over 130 people signed up and ran in the 5k.

St. Jude has raised its patients' survival rate to 86% over the last 30 years of operation.
