SJPD work scene near Mitchell Park Plaza on South 11th Street

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph Police Department had the area of South 11th Street from Mitchell Avenue to Sylvanie Street closed off for almost two hours Wednesday evening for a currently unknown situation.

According to a department alert, individuals were asked to avoid the area around 9:11 pm on June 17.

Upon press arrival at the scene, there were around four police vehicles in the area. Police tape sectioned off an area of South 11th Street near the Leasing Office entrance to the Mitchell Park Plaza apartment building.

One white SUV was parked near a brick wall across the street on the west side of South 11th Street, across from the apartment building.

Authorities did not provide immediate comment at the time as to what happened. The scene was cleared around 10:53 pm.
