ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A former MoWest and St. Joseph Mustangs baseball player will take charge of the Central High School baseball program.

On Monday, the St. Joseph School District's Board of Education approved the hiring of Brady Holden to be the Central baseball coach next season.

Holden, who served as an assistant for Central in 2025, was going to be the program's assistant coach under former Lafayette head coach Matt Jansen.

Earlier this month, Jansen resigned and took a position on a Kansas City-area high school staff.

Holden played college baseball at Longview, State Fair Community College and MoWest. The new Central head coach played three seasons for the Griffons. He also played multiple summers with the St. Joseph Mustangs.

The Central assistant coaches will include Walker Cave, Jacob Olson and former head coach and Griffons Hall of Famer Buzz Verduzco.
