America's Block Party

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Persisterhood of St. Joseph will host a "We ARE America at 250" block party on July 4.

The event is part of the America250 organization, a congressionally mandated initiative established in 2016 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The block party will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the public sidewalks at the intersection of Belt Highway and Frederick Avenue in St. Joseph.

"We want our block party to be a joyous shout out and reaffirmation that our country still stands for-as the Declaration of Independence, signed on July 4, 1776, proclaims that all of us are created equally and have the right to 'Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," Persisterhood facilitator Jane Frick said.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to bring water, flags and patriotic colors. There will be music and a table set up around the circular sidewalk at the corner of the intersection with informational fliers about the Aug. 4 Primary, candidate information and more.
