St. Joseph Mustangs fall to Joplin at home

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The St. Joseph Mustangs baseball team got out to a 2-0 lead against the Joplin Jailbirds Thursday night, then the 5th inning happened. Joplin scored 6 runs in the frame to take a commanding 6-2 lead, St. Joseph pulled within 2 runs at one point but lost in the end, 12-8.

The Mustangs pitching staff gave up a whopping 20 hits in the defeat.

Benton alum Chris Coy finished 2-for-5 at the plate with 4 RBI and a 3-run home run. Lafayette alum Jayden Little hit a solo home run Thursday night, he finished 1-for-4 with 1 RBI.

St. Joseph falls to 12-12 on the season, the team will next host the Chillicothe Mudcats on Friday, July 3rd at 7 pm at Phil Welch Stadium.
