Tracking Thursday morning rain & t-storms

Good morning and happy Thursday!

Rain and thunderstorms are moving through Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas this morning ahead of a cold front. Some heavier downpours have already produced more than a quarter inch of rain in St. Joseph, with localized totals nearing a half inch across parts of Northeast Kansas. If you're heading out early, allow extra travel time and watch for ponding on roadways.

The heaviest rain will continue shifting east through the morning, with the greatest impacts expected along and east of Interstate 35 during the morning commute. Showers will gradually taper off by late morning, with only a few isolated showers lingering into the afternoon.

Highs today will climb into the upper 80s. While temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than recent days, humidity will remain elevated, making it feel muggy once the rain ends. Skies will gradually begin to clear later this evening.

Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is expected late tonight into Friday morning, bringing another period of wet roads for the Friday morning commute. Rain chances become more isolated Friday afternoon before drying out for the weekend.

Saturday looks mostly dry with only a slight chance of an isolated shower, while Sunday is shaping up to be the better day to spend time outdoors with sunshine, warm temperatures in the upper 80s, and lower rain chances.
