Tracking Friday thunderstorms & rain chances

Good morning and happy Friday!

We're starting the day dry across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, but rain chances will increase through the morning. Showers currently developing across eastern Kansas will continue tracking northeast, bringing increasing cloud cover and scattered rain during the morning commute. Temperatures are starting in the low 70s with noticeably higher humidity than yesterday.

Scattered showers will continue through the morning and into the afternoon, although not everyone will see rain all day. Expect periods of dry weather between rounds of light showers, so it will not be a complete washout. Keep the umbrella handy if you'll be outdoors.

Rain chances gradually diminish late this afternoon and evening, allowing conditions to improve for Friday night activities, including the Mustangs game. A stray sprinkle cannot be ruled out, but most locations should be drying out by sunset.

Highs today will reach the mid-80s, a few degrees cooler than yesterday, with mostly cloudy skies and muggy conditions.

A much drier pattern settles in for the weekend. Saturday brings only a slight chance of an isolated sprinkle, but most of the day will stay dry with warm temperatures. Sunshine becomes more widespread Sunday, with highs climbing back into the upper 80s and low 90s. Hotter weather continues into next week as temperatures rise into the middle 90s under mostly sunny skies.
