50 teams competing in 5th annual St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame High School Holiday Hoops Classic

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- There are 50 teams that will compete in a high school basketball classic in December at Civic Arena.

The St. Joseph Sports Commission will host the 5th annual St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame High School Holidays Hoops Classic for four days in December.

“Interest in this event continues to grow which speaks to the quality of the venue and unique, arena style atmosphere that is a great experience for the student-athletes to compete in,” said Brett Esely, Executive Director of the St. Joseph Sports Commission.  “This is by far our largest field ever in which we’ve added a day featuring 50 teams competing in 31 games.”

The four-day classic will start on Friday, Dec. 18 with seven games that day. On Dec. 19, there will be eight games. The classic continues on Monday, Dec. 21, with eight more games. The event will finish up on Tuesday, Dec. 22, with eight more games.

Ticket information will be released in late fall in which all sales will be facilitated online and through the Civic Arena Box Office.
