Tracking rain chances and a warming trend

Good morning and happy Thursday!

As you're heading out the door this morning, we're still tracking soggy conditions across the area.

Rainfall totals have varied quite a bit over the last 24 hours. St. Joseph has picked up just over a quarter inch of rain at the airport, while higher amounts have fallen north of Cameron where some of the heaviest rain has been.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 a.m. for portions of the area, with flooding concerns continuing farther south. If you're heading out this morning, take it slow on the roads and never drive through flooded areas.

The heaviest rain will gradually shift east over the next few hours, but scattered showers and a few heavier downpours will remain possible through the morning commute.

Temperatures are starting out in the lower 70s, making for a mild morning. By lunchtime, we'll transition to just a few isolated showers, and rain chances continue to decrease through the afternoon. We may even see a few breaks of sunshine by the evening commute as highs warm into the lower 80s.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clearing skies. Clouds increase again early Friday, and while most of the next round of rain should stay south along Interstate 70, we can't completely rule out a few isolated showers Friday morning.

Today's high reaches 83 degrees with lingering showers early, then a mix of clouds and sunshine this afternoon.

Looking ahead, temperatures continue to warm through the rest of the workweek, reaching the upper 80s Friday and climbing back into the lower and middle 90s this weekend. I've also added a small chance for a few isolated showers late Saturday night into early Sunday, but at this point it does not look like a washout. Most of the weekend should stay dry, hot, and perfect for getting outside.
