Patrick Mahomes speaks on Chiefs team supporting Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy while away supporting injured wife

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke to the media this morning about his support for Kansas City offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy who is still away in Virginia supporting his wife who is recovering from being shot by the couple's son back on July 26th. 

"Prayers to to him and his family and Miss Bieniemy. She's doing better now, so it's always great to hear the news from him about her and it's been good to talk to him," said Mahomes. "He's been zooming in. He's been live streaming. He's still EB. It's not like he's not EB and so he's calling you at the end of the night and talking to you throughout the day and all the plays. So we'll be excited to get him back, but at the same time, we want him to take as much time as he needs to be with his family."

There's been no timetable for Bieniemy's return to the team, the Chiefs will play their first preseason game on Saturday, August 15th hosting the Los Angeles Rams at 3 pm.
