Family Fun Day takes place at Chiefs Training Camp

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Chiefs Training Camp on the campus of Missouri Western was packed Saturday morning for Family Fun Day, a date circled on many fans' calendars for camp.

As many came through the gates at MoWest, the main attraction, as guessed, was the NFL team on the field. However, for some, training camp being a reasonable driving distance from the Kansas City area allows for some families to get an escape, like the Boerkirchers from Kansas City, Kansas.

"This is our third year at camp, and we always have a lot of fun coming up here and spending time together. We love the autographs. We love the entertainment," said Andrew Boerkircher. "We love the atmosphere. It's just fun to get excited for the Chiefs season."

Other families who attended were the Coles, with family in the area and family from Chicago visiting as they attended camp together.

Throughout the football-themed activities on Craig Field at Spratt Memorial Stadium, there were groups of friends participating in field goal competitions. The day was wrapped up on Saturday with an autograph session from the entire Kansas City Chiefs team who were able to participate.

The team will have an off day on Sunday, August 9, before returning for practice on Monday, August 10. Defensive Backs from the Chiefs will be made available after practice concludes for autographs.

Camp's practice on Monday will begin on Mosaic Fields on the campus of MoWest at 9:15 am.
