Pigskin Preview: Experience leads the way for Savannah in 2026

SAVANNAH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Savannah Savages head into the 2026 high school football season with several players holding multiple years of varsity experience.

The Savages have seniors on the squad that have three years of varsity experience, and that is something head coach Anthony Hays said will benefit this team.

"They are a group that has stuck with it through thick and thin," Hays said. "A lot of them are guys that have waited for some of those guys to graduate in front of them. They really dominated and played well and stayed the course at the JV level, and now it's their turn."

Savannah is coming off a 10-2 season in 2025 and a trip to the Class 4 District 8 championship game. The Savages lost to the eventual Class 4 state champions — the Kearney Bulldogs.

The Savages will start the 2026 season on the road at Pleasant Hill at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28.
