Kelce takes podium during Wednesday’s media availability at Chiefs Training Camp

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- After a publicly busy offseason for Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce, the man now married to Pop Mega Star Taylor Swift finally took the podium at camp.

During Kelce's media availability on Wednesday, he spoke about "the best day of his life" in finally marrying Swift at Madison Square Garden. Although a big moment for the veteran tight end, he also, of course, gave answers about his life on the field.

Especially what brought him back for year 14 in the NFL after last season's harsh 6-11 record.

"Still got a lot of love for this game. You know, I still think I can go out and play at a high level, and I want to go out there and prove myself that I can play at a better level than I did last year," Kelce told the media at MoWest.  "I think that's probably the biggest thing for me is making sure that I'm accountable for the guys in this room and every single play that I'm out there."

Also speaking to the media on Wednesday was Assistant Head Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub, who gave kudos to Kelce. Toub said no matter what, getting anything past a decade in the NFL is nothing short of extraordinary.

"14 years...doing it for 14 years in the NFL. That's saying something. Even as a coach, it's talk. You know, I don't know how he does it. But you know he's got energy," Toub said in talking about Kelce. "He's out there getting everybody fired up for the long drive. And, I don't see anything less."

Setting the way for Kelce and other receivers may be Kahlil Benson, who also took the podium.

Despite winning a national title with the Indiana Hoosiers last season, the offensive lineman went undrafted. He was eventually signed to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he has been impressing at camp.

Although he recently won a title, Benson said he chose to be humble during his path to suiting up for an NFL squad.

"Showing the humbleness, man, and the confidence. And the coaches, being able to win, will be able to trust you. You know, being able to move forward when there's times it would be corrected, being able to be corrected," Benson said. "Being able just to go out there and make plays and do what you got to do to make sure. "

The Chiefs will be back out for another practice at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug.13. Wide receivers and tight ends are expected to sign post-practice.

Their first preseason game is quickly approaching, hosting the Los Angeles Rams at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.
