U.S. Senators open investigation into Roblox following thousands of abuse reports

WASHINGTON D.C., (KQTV) -- A major investigation is underway into one of the world's most popular online gaming platforms for kids, Roblox.

Senators Josh Hawley of Missouri and Dick Durbin of Illinois have formally opened a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee investigation into Roblox, citing what they call a pattern of child exploitation on the platform.

In a letter to Roblox CEO David Baszucki, the senators say police have arrested numerous individuals over the past decade for crimes connected to Roblox, including grooming, sexual abuse, kidnapping, and murder.

They also note that in 2025 alone, Roblox reported more than 65,000 instances of suspected child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, more than double what it reported the year before.

The senators accuse Roblox of prioritizing revenue over child safety and have ordered the company to preserve all records related to abuse, bullying, and exploitation.

The company has until August 31st to respond.
