Morrey to transition to Buchanan County Prosecutor’s Office in 2027

ANDREW COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Current Andrew County Prosecutor Monica Morrey confirmed on Friday that she will transition to a role with the Buchanan County Prosecutor's Office in 2027.

Morrey, who assumed the then-part-time role of Andrew County Prosecutor in January of 2023, did not file to run for another term in the 2026 midterm primaries. In four years, she helped the position become full-time in January 2027.

"Although I made the decision not to remain a second term, it is truly bittersweet to be leaving an office that has captured such a big part of my heart," Morrey wrote in a statement to KQ2. "I am praying for the success of the Andrew County Prosecutor’s Office in the years ahead."

That future seems to lie in the hands of Reilly Delong, who ran unopposed on the Republican ticket on August 4. No one filed to run for the Andrew County Prosecutor position in any other party, which means Delong will be next in line as long as she receives one vote on November 3.

In Buchanan County, Morrey shared that she will continue to serve the 5th Judicial Circuit as a full-time assistant prosecutor handling the sex crime and child abuse caseload beginning in January 2027.

The Andrew County Clerk's Office shared that anyone who still wishes to run for prosecutor must file by October 23 at 5:00 pm.
