Chillicothe High School softball picks up tough road victory at Mid-Buchanan

FAUCETT, Mo. (KQTV) - The defending Class 3 state champion Chillicothe High School softball team came away with a 5-3 road victory over Mid-Buchanan on Tuesday.

Sophomore Macie Rodenberg finished 2-for-3 with 1 RBI for the Lady Hornets. Freshman Quin Marsh finished 1-for-3 with 1 RBI and senior Ellie Acree was 1-for-4 with 1 RBI.

Senior Landry Marsh pitched all 7 innings for Chillicothe, finishing with 5 strikeouts, 5 hits and 3 runs given up.

"Expectations are high, but they were high last year before we won a state championship, so that's just kind of who we are. Our girls like to compete," said Chillicothe head coach Lee Rucker. "They want to be competitive every night. But we just talk a lot about each year you have to create your own identity with that group of kids and so this group's working on that right now. We just wanna be the best that we can be each day."

For Mid-Buchanan, junior Zuzu Kountz finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and senior Ella Lisenbee was 1-for-3 with 1 RBI.

Chillicothe improves to 6-1 on the season and will next play at Lawson on Thursday, September 3rd at 5 pm.

Mid-Buchanan drops to 4-2 and next plays at St. Pius X on Wednesday, September 2nd at 4:40 pm.
