Central DeKalb County Fire District responds to 24 calls in August

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Central DeKalb County Fire Protection District responded to 24 calls for service in August.

The fire protection district responded to two commercial structure fire calls in downtown Maysville. Both were caused by air conditioner wiring overheating.

According to the fire protection district, the incidents followed low voltage, possibly a result of storms affecting the power grid.

Other calls included a shed fire with propane cylinders, grass and brush fires, a vehicle fire, vehicle accidents, medical emergency first responder calls and storm spotting.

Community service calls included wellness checks, lift assists and traffic assist for a funeral. About 29 volunteer firefighters assisted in responding to calls.

In addition, the firefighters participated in three training sessions, which included practicing different nozzle stream applications, first responder medical emergency training and an exercise session wearing fire gear.
