United Way calling for volunteers to assemble 900 meal kits

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- United Way of Greater St. Joseph is hosting three Caring Connection volunteer sessions with the goal of assembling 900 Meal Kits for Northwest Missouri.

All sessions will take place at United Way of Greater St. Joseph, 118 South 5th St.

Multiple dates and times are offered to accommodate schedules. The first session will start at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Following the first session, the next one will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. The last one is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.

"Back-to-school season can bring added expenses and stress for families already working to make ends meet,” United Way President Kylee Strough said. “These Meal Kits are one simple way we can help ease that burden and make sure our neighbors have food available when they need it.”

Meal Kits assembled during these events will be distributed through partner agencies, churches and local organizations to help the community facing food insecurity.

The initiative was made possible by Mosaic Life Care and the Mosaic Life Care Foundation.

Volunteer opportunities are open to individuals, families, workplace groups and volunteers of all ages. Tasks include sorting, assembling and packing meals.
