Chase Candy Company to launch new mash flavor with Hy-Vee sampling event

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- Chase Candy Company is set to release a brand new mash flavor.

In celebration of the new flavor, Chase has partnered with Hy-Vee for a sampling event on Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The sampling event will be the big reveal of the new flavor. Chase started developing the new mash flavor at the beginning of the year.

Josh Hegeman, sales manager of Chase Candy Company, said the new flavor will be a big hit for many fans.

"You will find this flavor to be a very good, almost sister-type product to the Cherry Mash," he said. "It has a lot of qualities that we were looking for similar to the Cherry Mash. It's a great taste; we're very excited."

The last time the company had a new flavor was around the 1970s.

"We figured it was probably about time to make something new for our amazing fans. We're very excited about this new flavor," Hegeman said.

The sampling event will feature a survey that customers could fill out to give their thoughts.

"We love to hear feedback, honest and truthful about the flavor," Hegeman said. "What they like, what they don't like. Hopefully there's nothing that they don't like, and it's all positive reviews but we're open to all feedback because we're trying to make the best candy product that we possibly can."

Hegeman said it's everything to introduce a new flavor to the St. Joseph community.

"We've had our roots here for 150 years. St. Joe has been with us since day one, and so to give them a new flavor, to give them the first chance," he said. I think it's a fun way to bring the community together, and support of our brand because we have been able to thrive because of St. Joseph.

The product will be available in a clamshell package and is expected to hit the market in late September or early October.

Chase will have a table set up next to the sushi area in Hy-Vee. The sampling event is free and open to the public.
