Tracking a cool and gray start to the week

Mostly cloudy skies and relatively cool air will be locked in place to finish out the weekend and start the work week, as a trough of low pressure lingers across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. Periods of patchy fog and drizzle will be possible Sunday night and Monday, with otherwise dry conditions and mainly overcast skies. Upper 60s and lows 70s Sunday afternoon give way to a slight cool off after sunset as lows fall into the mid to low 60s. Light northeast breezes and cloud coverage will help to promote cool temperatures on Monday with highs in the upper 60s. Near to below average temperatures are slated to stick around for much of next week. Despite peaks of sunshine between clouds on Tuesday, cooler air will be in place just in time for the first day of astronomical fall.
