Tracking a cloudy and wet start to the weekend

Mostly cloudy skies, passing showers, and patchy drizzle will continue across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas to finish out the work week and start the weekend. A slow moving low pressure system responsible for the spell of wet and dreary weather is forecast to track west to east through the Central Plains, sending additional waves of moisture to the area for the next 24 to 48 hours. Cool temperatures accompany the periodic rain Friday evening, with mid to low 60s and light southeast breezes. Showers and embedded non-severe thunderstorms are likely Saturday morning, before a break from widespread rain for the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 70s. Clouds and showers remain possible Sunday, although rain chances are likely to diminish through the day with more dry time and highs in the mid 70s. At this time, dry skies are most likely to make a return on Monday with peaks of sunshine and highs in the upper 70s, before additional rain chances build back into the area through the middle of next week.
