Tracking a warming trend & late-week heavy rain

A warmer start to the week will give way to increasing rain and storm chances across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.

Temperatures will gradually warm Monday and Tuesday, but a change in the weather pattern arrives Tuesday night as moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Polo moves into the region.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread from late Tuesday night through Thursday. Some of these storms could produce heavy rainfall, with current forecasts calling for around 2 to 3 inches of rain across the area.

The highest rainfall totals are currently expected across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas, although the exact location of the heaviest rain could still change as the system gets closer.

Clouds and a few lingering showers may stick around Friday morning before drier weather returns Friday evening and into the weekend.

Temperatures will cool back into the upper 60s to lower 70s for highs this weekend, with overnight lows in the 50s.
