St. Joseph Christian volleyball picks up home win over West Platte in 4 sets

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The St. Joseph Christian High School volleyball team defeated West Platte 3-1 in 4 sets Tuesday night (25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20).

"It was really, really fun. I felt like we played really well. Coming out in that first set we were really strong and then we stalled in that second set. But we were able to just pick it back up and get back going in the last two sets," said St. Joseph Christian junior Mya Urwiller. "We go really well with momentum and so without the momentum we kind of start to fall. This is a really great group to play with. We come together while we pick each other up."

"We battled, we knew coming in it was gonna be a dogfight and the girls performed well," said St. Joseph Christian first year head coach Marina Atkins. "We had that second set that, we kind of let it get away from us, but we came out and we were like, okay, we can control what we can control and God bless, here we are."

The Lions improve to 14-6-2 on the season and next play in the Riverside Volleyball Tournament in Elwood, Kansas on Saturday, October 3rd. West Platte drops to 10-7-4 and next will host Lathrop on Thursday, October 1st at 7 pm.
