Tracking a sunny & mild Monday and week ahead

Abigail McCluskey

After a cool start to October, warmer and drier weather is taking over across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas this week.

High pressure will build across the region today, bringing mostly sunny skies, light winds and seasonable temperatures. Highs will climb into the middle to upper 70s this afternoon.

A noticeable warm-up begins Tuesday as winds turn more southerly. Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s to low 80s, with some locations potentially reaching the mid 80s. Above-normal temperatures will continue through much of the week, with highs running about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than average for early October.

The dry pattern will also stick around. Rain chances remain very low through the majority of the week, with the only potential exception coming Thursday night. A few showers could develop across northern Missouri, but rain chances remain limited at around 15 to 20 percent.

For northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas, the overall forecast calls for warm, dry and increasingly unseasonable conditions through the week, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the early fall weather
