Tracking October heat and sunshine

Mostly sunny skies and October heat continue across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas through the weekend and into early next week, as unseasonably warm air remains anchored in place. Daily afternoon highs around 90 degrees can be expected, with generally sunny days and dry nights. Overnight and early morning lows will fall to near 60 degrees, and southerly breezes persist between 5 and 15 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 25 mph, especially during the next several afternoons. A weak cold front will bring the start of a cool-off on Tuesday, with highs in the low to mid 80s. Low pressure will develop and track through the region mid-week, likely resulting in scattered to widespread rain and thunderstorm chances late Tuesday night and Wednesday. Rain chances linger Thursday as much cooler air spreads into the region dropping highs into the 70s and eventually 60s in the extended forecast.
