North Andrew High School softball upsets Worth County in District Quarterfinals

ROSENDALE, Mo. (KQTV) - The 5 seed North Andrew High School softball team pulled off an upset over 4 seed Worth County in a 4-2 victory in the Class 1 District 7 Quarterfinals on Thursday.

North Andrew was led by sophomore pitcher Zoey Redmond. Redmond struck out 9 batters in 7 innings pitched and only gave up 1 hit and 2 runs in the victory. Redmond also added a solo home run for the Lady Cardinals in the 3rd inning, she finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 1 RBI. Worth County got 11 strikeouts from senior pitcher Kristen Tracy but she gave up 7 hits and 4 runs in the loss.

"Honestly the confidence and the hype from the team, it was all pretty big. I just took that on to the mound and I did my thing," said Redmond.

"It was great. We knew if we could pitch well and get an early lead, that was going to be big," said North Andrew head coach Tim Miller. "Both teams were going to be really nervous coming in. We got the lead and settled in. I'm super proud of the performance of all the girls. Zoey pitched her heart out and did a great job. Offense did just enough and we cam away with a win."

North Andrew improves to 10-10 on the season and will next face 1 seed King City in the Class 1 District 7 Semifinals on Monday, October 19th at 6 pm in King City.

Worth County finishes the season with a 9-5 record.
