Judge orders Harrison County Clerk to vacate office following felony arrest

HARRISON COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A judge has ordered the county clerk in Harrison County to vacate her office following her recent felony arrest.

The Missouri Attorney General's Office has secured a preliminary order removing Harrison County Clerk Lee Ann Miles from her duties.

The court has barred Miles from exercising any authority, entering the clerk's office, or using county property and credit cards.

Miles has ten days to respond.

This civil action follows Miles's arrest earlier this month on charges of stealing over $125,000 from an elderly client.

She is currently being held without bond.

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway released a statement on the order, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring free, fair, and efficient elections for the people of Harrison County.
