Nodaway County Courthouse implements new security screening process

MARYVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- Starting Monday, visitors to the Nodaway County Courthouse will notice significant changes at the doors, as the Sheriff's Office is implementing a new security screening process.

The Nodaway County Sheriff's Office is tightening security at the courthouse, effective Monday, October 26th.

Public access will now be limited to the east entrance only, and the west-side doors will be locked.

The east entrance does feature a handicap-accessible ramp.

Once inside, everyone, regardless of where they are going in the building, must pass through a new security checkpoint equipped with a walk-through metal detector.

Officials are asking the public to leave several items at home or in their vehicles, including large bags, backpacks, diaper bags, weapons, tools, outside food or drinks, and drugs or alcohol.

Visitors should plan ahead and allow extra time to get through the screening process.
