Tracking Thursday clouds and rain chances into the weekend

Abigail McCluskey

Good morning and happy Thursday! Temperatures are starting off mild this morning, with readings in the upper 50s to low 60s across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas.

We are keeping an eye on a few isolated showers this morning, but many areas should remain dry to start the day. A weak cold front will influence our weather today, bringing a difference in temperatures across the region. Areas north of the Missouri River will be cooler, with highs in the 60s to lower 70s, while locations farther south could climb into the upper 70s and approach 80 degrees.

A few additional showers or an isolated thunderstorm could develop this afternoon, especially across northern Missouri. However, rain chances remain relatively low for much of the day, so we will still see plenty of dry time between any passing showers.

Rain chances increase tonight into Friday morning as more widespread showers and a few thunderstorms move into the region. Friday is shaping up to be a wetter day, with additional rounds of rain possible heading into Halloween on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Halloween is looking cooler and potentially soggy at times, with scattered showers possible throughout the day. The good news is that rain may become more hit-or-miss later Saturday, so we will continue to monitor conditions as we get closer to trick-or-treat time.

Temperatures will gradually trend cooler through the weekend and into early next week, with highs generally settling into the 60s and 70s. Additional rain chances will stick around through the seven-day forecast, so keep the umbrella nearby as we head into November!
