DENVER (KQTV) -- The Denver Broncos scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to gallop passed the Kansas City Chiefs 28-24 on Sunday.

The Kansas Chiefs were off to a hot start in the first half with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 196 passing yards and two touchdowns giving the Chiefs a 17-13 lead. Mahomes would finish the game going 30/41, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns.

In the second half, Mahomes threw for his third touchdown of the night to tight end Noah Gray for a four-yard touchdown and the 24-13 lead with 7:02 left to play in the third.

The Chiefs defense would keep the Broncos offense in the stables in the third quarter, with three straight possessions resulting in a punt in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Bo Nix and the Broncos offense brought the game within one possession with a nine play, 80-yard touchdown drive, resulting in a two-yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix to tight end Nate Adkins. Broncos go for two to bring it within three, the try was successful as Nix found Jaylen Waddle for the successful try.

The Chiefs offense then responded with their own 11 play, 34-yard drive but Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker misses his fifth field goal try of the season from 54 yards out. Giving Denver the ball at their own 36 yard line with 2:36 remaining in the game.

The Broncos swing the momentum with a 51-yard pass from Bo Nix to Jonah Coleman. Jonah Coleman then runs it up the middle for a five yard touchdown run, give the Broncos a late 28-24 lead.

The Chiefs still had a little magic left as they drove down to the Denver 12-yard line and had one final chance to seal the road win, but the Broncos defense held strong to sack Mahomes to seal the win.

The Chiefs lose back-to-back games, falling to 5-2 on the season, they will be back in Arrowhead Stadium on November 8th, for a noon kickoff against the New York Jets.
