Tracking a chilly Friday & slightly warmer temps into the weekend

Abigail McCluskey

Good morning and happy Friday! Out the door this morning, temperatures are back in the low 40s, with wind chills in the upper 30s. It’s a cool and overcast start to Friday, with drizzle expected through the morning and around lunchtime.

Highs today will reach the upper 40s to low 50s. Skies will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day, with cloud cover gradually breaking up and clearing through the evening hours.

Overnight tonight, temperatures will drop into the low 30s west of Interstate 35, while upper 20s are expected farther east. With the colder temperatures, a Frost Advisory is in place for much of northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas, generally west of Interstate 35. Farther east, a Freeze Warning is in effect. Both alerts run from midnight tonight through 8 a.m. Saturday. Be sure to bring sensitive plants indoors and plan ahead for the cold!

Temperatures will start to rebound Saturday, with highs reaching the upper 50s. We'll see more sunshine Saturday and Sunday, with low 60s returning by Sunday.

We'll continue to warm up next week, with highs in the middle to upper 60s. Overall, conditions look relatively dry through the weekend and into the middle of next week.
