Lawson football pulls off the upset in Faucett

FAUCETT, Mo. (KQTV) -- The No. 5 seeded Lawson Cardinals upset the No. 1 seeded Mid-Buchanan Dragons in Faucett, 19-18.

Mid-Buchanan led for most of this game, but with less than seven minutes in the game, junior kicker Brock Nutter gave the Cardinals their first lead. With the Dragons trailing 19-18, they were able to mount a drive inside the Lawson 20-yard line. Dragon senior quarterback Chris Kowalewycz scrambled on 4th down and was eventually ruled just short. Lawson ran out the clock and took a 19-18 victory.

Lawson improves to 8-3 on the season, while Mid-Buch ends their year, 9-1.

Lawson is now headed to the Class 2 District 8 Championship where they will play the Brookfield Bulldogs. Game is set in Brookfield on Nov. 13 with kickoff at 7 p.m.
