Maryville High School hoops sweeps Bishop LeBlond on the road

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) – The Maryville and Bishop LeBlond High School basketball teams squared off in St. Joseph Thursday night in a battle of Midland Empire Conference teams.

In the boys game, Maryville came away with a 50-39 victory.

Junior Jackson Dredge led the Spoofhounds with 18 points, followed by senior Miles Poynter with 16 points. Sophomore Walter Meierhoffer led the Golden Eagles with 11 points.

The Maryville boys improve to 12-7 on the season and the LeBlond boys fall to 9-8.

In the girls matchup, Maryville defeated LeBlond 59-18.

Junior Claire Walter led Maryville with 12 points, freshman Reagan Kurz had 10 and senior Brylee Acklin had 8 points. For LeBlond, senior Ella Frazee led the team with 10 points.

The Maryville girls improve to 11-3 on the season and the LeBlond girls drop to 10-8.

The Maryville girls next play at Pembroke Hill on Monday, January 26th at 7 pm. The Maryville boys host Nodaway Valley next on Tuesday, January 27th at 7:30 pm.

Both LeBlond teams host Cameron on Friday, January 23rd at 6 and 7:30 pm.
