ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — St. Joseph mayoral incumbent, John Josendale and candidate Larry Miller will head to the ballots for the April 7 General Municipal Election as St. Joseph’s top two candidates.
Josendale and Miller were on Tuesday’s Primary Election ballot running against Jonathan McClain and Ken Reeder.
After Tuesday’s unofficial totals at 15 precincts across the City, Josendale accumulated a total of 1,839 votes. Josendale said he feels good about winning the primary.
“It’s very strange to be the only thing on the ballot, and again I felt like we were getting out and talking to the people, getting word, so again very encouraged that we had over 10% of voter turnout for one group on the ballot,” he said. “It was good.”
Miller accumulated a total of 1,170 votes. He shared a similar sentiment about winning the Primary, as he’s excited to see what the General Municipal Election holds.
“I know if I get elected mayor, I can help the people of St. Joe,” he said.
Buchanan County saw a 10.5% voter turnout in Tuesday’s Primary Election.
Election results will still need to be solidified by Buchanan County Clerk, Mary Baack Garvey.
