All lanes of I-29 back open after bridge demolition

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — All lanes of Interstate 29 passing by Gene Field Road are now open after the bridge demolition was completed more quickly than expected.

Around 7:00 pm on Sunday, Feb. 8, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced that all lanes on I-29 are now clear and open for travel. This comes after the bridge demolition project began Saturday night.

The bridge demolition was originally scheduled to be completed by 5:00 am on Monday morning.

MoDOT, however, shared that drivers should expect future partial lane closures below the bridge in the near future. These closures will happen between 6:00 pm and 10:00 am.
