MoWest’s McMahan recognized by international organization

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- One professor at MoWest was recently given the Leadership in Listening Award by the Global Listening Centre.

The Global Listening Centre (GLC), a nonprofit organization headquartered in Kolkata and London with a presence in over 140 Countries, recently recognized Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication, Dr. David McMahan.

McMahan joined MoWest in 2001 after receiving a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and has published more than 10 books in his career. He is also the executive chair of the GLC and has helped with training sessions in the Cayman Islands, South Africa, and more, with initiatives to improve listening and communication.

He also serves as president of the National Communication Association and the Central States Communication Association. editor of the Iowa Journal of Communication and consulting editor of the Journal of Communication Pedagogy, along with many other titles he holds over various organizations.
