St. Joseph Christian celebrates opening of new gym

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — St. Joseph Christian School will hosts its first home basketball games in its brand new gym Tuesday night.

The school's multi-year project featured new classrooms, commons, locker rooms, and gym.

The school has received over $10,000,000 in donations to help with the project.

"Our building committee has been united from the get go," Co-Superintendent Danny Maggart said. "It's just been a dream come true."

St. Joseph Christian celebrated the opening by hosting Nodaway Valley Tuesday.

The new gym was originally scheduled to be open during next week's district basketball games.

Even though the new gym is open, school officials said they will not be closing down their older gym anytime soon.

"This will be a perfect place to host tournaments," Maggart said. "Both gyms will be used all the time, but big events will be in the east gym."

Both faculty and students are excited to be able to utilize the new additions to the school.
