League of Women Voters to hold City Council, Mayoral candidate forum

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A non-profit, nonpartisan organization is set to host a public forum featuring 11 St. Joseph City Council candidates and two Mayoral candidates.

The League of Women Voters of Northwest Missouri will host the forum from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, at the Rolling Hills Library in the Upper Story Room, located at 1906A North Belt Highway.

The organization has partnered with the Missouri Western State University Foundation, NAACP St. Joseph Chapter and St. Joseph Retired School Personnel Association to put on the event.

During the event, attendees will be encouraged to ask questions to the candidates.

"Our real goal behind this is to get people more involved," LWV Moderator Sharon Kosek said. "By that I mean, to get to see who the candidates are, what they think about different answers."

Both Mayoral candidates, John Josendale and Larry Miller, will be in attendance.

City Council incumbents Randy S. Schultz, Marty Novak, Kenton W. Randolph, Jeff Schomburg, W. Andrew Trout and Michael Grimm have all agreed to participate.

Candidates Frederick Martin, Collin Clibon, Dakota Allen, Gary S. Wilkinson and Dana Stickley will also appear in the forum.
