ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri recently celebrated the retirement of its longtime president, Marie Hinde, whose leadership over more than 16 years has left a lasting mark on the region.

During her tenure, Hinde became known for her charitable and philanthropic efforts across Northwest Missouri, working tirelessly to improve quality of life throughout the area.

Friends, colleagues, and community members gathered to honor her contributions and wish her well in retirement.

Reflecting on her time, Hinde expressed confidence in the foundation's future.

"We've done a lot of wonderful things, and we have a lot of great systems in place," she said. "To build on those, I think would be really smart. I think my predecessor will be able to reach different groups than I've reached. So I think it's exciting to think that that's going to happen."

Hinde said her decision to step away came from a desire to bring in fresh leadership to elevate the foundation to its next level, as well as a personal wish to focus on being a grandmother.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri continues its mission of connecting donors with causes that strengthen the region.

More information can be found on the foundation's website.

Congratulations to Marie Hinde on her retirement.
