Buchanan County EMS provides clarification on billing issues

Buchanan County EMS

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Buchanan County EMS is working to address concerns about billing issues that began in early 2024.

According to the EMS service, United Healthcare’s Change Healthcare, which it originally used for billing, was the victim of a 2024 hack.

This caused a six-month disruption that affected close to two million people nationwide.

EMS switched to a new billing provider, but the new provider could not access all records from the previous service.

Since then, First Coastal Billing Services has began assisting in the recovery of bills lost since the 2024 cyber attack; However, not all the information was provided, and some statements contained errors, even for people who had already had their bills paid.

Buchanan County EMS asked that anyone who received a billing statement with the Code ID: FRSTCBG1, or who believe they received an incorrect bill, to contact their department at 816-396-9572 to have this corrected.
