Andrew County Sheriff’s Office warns of scams

ANDREW COUNTY, Mo (KQTV) -- Multiple reports have surfaced in Andrew County regarding online scamming, according to Andrew County Sheriff Grant Gillett.

Citizens have received faxes and texts with QR codes that directed them to make a payment for a missed traffic court in Johnson County.

Authorities are encouraging citizens to disregard these messages and not click on any QR codes or links that are sent to them.

Law enforcement agencies, as well as the Missouri Department of Revenue, will never contact you by text message or fax to make a payment for any fines. It's advised that if you receive a message or phone call you aren't quite sure about, you call your local law enforcement via their non-emergency line.
