Tracking a dry Wednesday with 70s before rain through the weekend

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

Temperatures are starting off milder compared to yesterday, with readings in the upper 40s to low 50s. Breezy conditions have returned, with wind gusts already reaching into the 30 mph range this morning and expected to increase to around 40 mph by this afternoon.

Highs today will climb into the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies, ahead of an approaching cold front set to move through around sunset.

That front will bring scattered showers overnight and into early Thursday. Rain and thunderstorm chances will continue through the day Thursday, with a marginal risk for severe weather in the afternoon.

Behind the front, temperatures will cool slightly into the low 70s Thursday, with showers lingering. Unsettled weather continues into the extended forecast, with stronger thunderstorm potential returning Monday and Tuesday.

Over the next seven days, rainfall totals could range from 1 to 2 inches, with higher amounts possible closer to the Iowa border.

Temperatures will dip into the low 60s by Friday before warming back into the upper 70s and low 80s by Monday.
