Tracking scattered showers Wednesday

Good morning and happy Wednesday. As you head out the door, I’m tracking scattered thunderstorms moving through northwest Missouri and northeastern Kansas. These storms will continue through about lunchtime.

We should see a dry window by midday, with temperatures warming back into the low to mid-80s this afternoon. However, another round of thunderstorms is expected to develop later today and continue into the evening. We are under a Level 2 (Slight Risk) for severe weather, with damaging winds and large hail as the primary threats.

After storms move out tonight, conditions turn quieter.

Thursday looks dry with mostly sunny skies and highs returning to the low 80s.

By Friday, we’ll see partly cloudy skies with another chance for strong thunderstorms.

Friday is the day to watch closely. We are already under a Level 3 (Enhanced Risk) for severe weather, meaning all hazards are possible, including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. A cold front moving through the region will likely trigger storms during the afternoon and evening hours, followed by a noticeable drop in temperatures heading into the weekend.

Rain should wrap up early Saturday morning, leading to a dry and cooler weekend. High temperatures will fall into the upper 50s and 60s for both Saturday and Sunday.
